Humberside Police have asked people to stay away from the area as officers continue to gather information.
A spokesman for the force said: “Officers issued a 100-metre security cordon at Welshpool Close, bransholmE, today (Saturday 14 May) following the discovery of a suspicious package.
“The cordon has now been extended to 400 meters, while the EOD is expected to reach the spot to examine the object,” officials said.
“Evacuation is underway and residents are being advised to follow procedures. Please avoid the area unless we can advise otherwise.”
James Handley, who has been rescued, believes his neighbor has been “attacked”.
He continued: “Whoever did it, whether it’s a sick joke or not, it’s terrible for everyone.
