Anesthesiologists meet in Mazatlan to update

Mazatlán, Sinaloa.- Anesthesiologists meet in Mazatlán on the 25th anniversary of the Northwest Course, where Dr. Alfredo Covarrubias Gómez gave the conference

Prior to the inauguration of the Congress “Anesthesia for the Chronic Opioid Consumer” and to attendees, he highlighted that there is a serious problem with the use of over-the-counter drugs in Mexico and the world, many of which are opioids that are used. Used for pain but also for recreational purposes.

He said that in the last survey conducted in the country, 17 per cent were found to be using these drugs without a prescription.

The opening was presided over by the Director of the General Hospital, Carlos Lionel Verdugo Hernández, who explained that anesthesia is one of the most important advances in medicine, which has become a figure of vital importance in the operating room.

For 25 years, the Congress has been held uninterruptedly with 300 attendees.

In 2020 I celebrated 15 years as a general information reporter at El Debate de Mazatlan. During this time I have specialized in the fields of education, health and government. I also worked on television at a local channel in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, while I studied at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua. I also worked in a newspaper for a national publisher. In the final year of the government of Francisco Labastida, I received the State Prize for Journalism for a series of reports on contamination. In 2017, the Senate of the Republic recognized me for my career. I have attended courses and workshops on new journalism techniques both in person and recently online. I have interviewed the last three presidents of Mexico.
